La Maison de Roux - The House of Roux

De Roux

The Blason of the Maison de Roux (Source 1)

Origins of the Family:

According to the study conducted by Mr. Jean GALLIAN and published in his website by the same name, the de Roux family originates from Cavaillon (1241) in southern France. A branch established by Jean RUFFI lived in  Villeneuve-les-Avignon (1477).  The family was still in the Languedoc region in 1671.

The family is related to Charles Ruffi (1241) who was the father of Jacques Ruffi, Consul of Cavaillon in 1263. Jacques Ruffi was the father of Louis Ruffi, who was also Consul of Cavaillon in 1293 (Source 2). Mr. Jean Gallian speculates that the de Roux branch are descendants of the gandson of Louis Ruffi. The name of the grandson is unknown however he did issue Pierre Ruffi an Raymond Ruffi (see below).
